Choosing the Right Coconut Oil: 76 or 92 ?
We offer two kinds of Coconut Oil: Coconut Oil 76 and Coconut Oil 92. The difference between them is the temperature at which they change from a semi-solid to a liquid - their melting point. One melts at about 76° F, the other melts at 92° F and they're each named accordingly. Otherwise, for our purposes, they're virtually identical. So the key to choosing is giving thought to how and where it will be used. With a low melting point, Coconut Oil 76 is always liquid at room temperature. So it's an ideal choice for massage oil or lotion. Except in the tropics, you can count on Coconut Oil 92 to stay semi-solid most of the time. Use it in soaps, balms, creams and ointments that require a firmer consistency. Remember, too, that Coconut Oil 92 melts gloriously when it comes in contact with 98.6° skin - one of it's most desirable properties! |
