Multibase Lotion Making Concentrate

Multibase Lotion Making Concentrate

Multibase is a highly concentrated, easy to use, multi-function base. Simply combine with warm distilled water to create a variety of luxurious products, including lotions and creams of various consistencies, body mists and body milks. No need for an additional preservative, it's included in the base!

Suggested additives:

  • Fragrance Oil - You may add 1% to 2% Fragrance or Essential oil, to your liking.
  • Colorant - 1 drop at a time until it's to your liking. Use colorant sparingly, don't over do it.
  • Oils - You may add 1% to 3% oil(s) of your choice (grapeseed, jojoba, sweet almond, avocado, apricot, etc.). Oils must be thoroughly blended with the multibase before adding water, otherwise you may experience separation.
  • Preservative - Multibase already contains preservatives. Additional preservatives should not be needed when temperature and amount of water are within the recommended range.

Mixing:

Always use distilled water. Heat the water in a microwave-safe measuring cup (approximately 170 degrees). If the water is too cool, the mixture will not emulsify properly.

Using an electric hand mixer, blend on low speed. When all ingredients are thoroughly blended, pour into containers. To avoid condensation, do not cap containers until the mixture has cooled.

Guidelines:

  • Thicker Body Cream: 1lb of Multibase with 1lb of warm distilled water
  • Basic Body Cream: 1lb of Multibase with 2lbs of warm distilled water
  • Thicker Hand/Body Lotion: 1 lb of Multibase with 3lbs of warm distilled water
  • Basic Hand/Body Lotion: 1lb of Multibase with 4lbs of warm distilled water
  • Bath Milk: 1lb of Multibase with 7lbs of warm distilled water
  • Moisturizing Body Mist: 1lb of Multibase with 10lbs of warm distilled water

Multibase already includes a preservative; however, when making Bath Milk or Body Mist, additional preservative may be needed.

Multibase Starter Recipe:

2 oz (by weight) of Multibase
1/4 fl oz (1.5 tsp) of Grapeseed Oil (or oil of your choice)
1/8 fl oz (or less) of Fragrance or Essential Oil
8 fl oz of heated, distilled water (170 degrees)

Using a whisk, thoroughly blend the Multibase with your Grapeseed and Fragrance/Essential Oil (for larger batches, use an electric hand mixer on low speed).

Then add the warm water, a little at a time, until all ingredients are completely blended.

When all ingredients are thoroughly blended, pour into containers. The mixture will thicken as it cools. To avoid condensation, do not cap containers until the mixture has completely cooled.
