Incense Making Base DPG

Incense Making Base DPG

Just mix one part fragrance oil to 3 parts Incense-Making Base DPG (for example, 1oz of fragrance oil plus 3oz of DPG). Stir until blended.

Soak incense sticks or cones in scent mixture for 24 hours in a glass or HDPE plastic container. Allow the incense to fully absorb the fragrance. You may also soak the sticks in a tall glass vase or cylinder.

After soaking, pour the leftover oil mixture into a glass or HDPE plastic bottle--you can re-use your oil mixture at a later date to make more incense. No waste!

Lay the sticks or cones out on a drying rack with several layers of paper towels underneath to catch any drips, then place them where they will get good air flow to help them dry.

Do not bake the incense in an oven or microwave!! Incense must be completely air-dried before burning (Allow at least 48 hours). Excessive smoke indicates insufficient drying.

CAUTION: When making incense, use only Incense-Making Base DPG (Dipropylene Glycol) -- never substitute alcohol or other solvents, and always dilute your incense fragrance with base -- never apply full-strength fragrance oils.

Sixteen ounces of scent mixture should yield about 500 incense sticks/cones. Properly made, fully dried incense should burn for approximately 45 minutes.
